| Governor announces appointments to state panels
Wednesday, May 11, 2005 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Mike Huckabee announced 22 appointments to state boards and commissions Tuesday. Those appointed: -Jim Pender of Little Rock reappointed to the Commission on Uniform State Laws. He is a partner in the Pender McCastlain & Ptak law firm. His term expires April 30, 2009. -David Nixon of Springdale reappointed to the Commission on Uniform State Laws. He is a partner in the Nixon Law Firm at Fayetteville. His term expires April 30, 2009. -LeRoy Autrey of Texarkana reappointed to the Commission on Uniform State Laws. He is a partner in the Autrey Autrey & Stewart law firm. His term expires April 30, 2009. -Nannette Nicholson of Little Rock to replace Jay Johnson on the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening, Tracking and Intervention Advisory Board. She is an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her term expires Jan. 14, 2008. -Rita Powell of Hot Springs reappointed to the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening, Tracking and Intervention Advisory Board. She is a speech pathologist and therapy director for First Step Inc. Her term expires Jan. 14, 2008. -Millie Sanford of Little Rock reappointed to the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening, Tracking and Intervention Advisory Board. She is coordinator of the infant hearing program for the state Department of Health. Her term expires Jan. 14, 2008. -Norma Cooper of Osceola to replace Michael Stanley on the Scenic Resources Preservation Coordinating Committee. She is an Osceola School District teacher. Her term expires Oct. 1, 2008. -Lillian Williams of North Little Rock to replace LeAnne Bird on the Pygmalion Commission on Non-traditional Education. She is a program coordinator for the state Department of Higher Education. Her term expires June 30, 2007. -Addie Morris of Little Rock to replace Benjamin Dodge on the Board of Health Education. She is a registered nurse. Her term expires July 31, 2005. -Charles Watson of Fort Smith reappointed to the Board of Private Career Education. He is an associate professor of chemistry at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. His term expires April 15, 2012. -Alan Carlisle Jr. of Fort Smith reappointed to the Fire Protection Licensing Board. He is a designer and installer for Fire Systems Technology Inc. His term expires April 1, 2010. -David Harbour of Crossett to replace Marshall Hughes on the Service Commission. He is retired. His term expires Jan. 14, 2008. -Dr. Bud Dickson of Magnolia to replace Twyla Pruden on the Southern Arkansas University Board of Trustees. He is president of Dickson Orthopaedic Centers. His term expires Jan. 14, 2010. -Mary Beth Green of Van Buren to replace Reta Hamilton on the Educational Television Commission. She is a speech therapist. Her term expires March 23, 2013. -Fitz Hill of Little Rock to replace Rickey Hicks on the Educational Television Commission. He is executive director of the Ouachita Opportunity Fund at Ouachita Baptist University. His term expires March 23, 2007. -Brent Standridge of North Little Rock to replace Jeffrey Phillips on the Sentencing Commission. He is a partner in the Ables Howe & Standridge law firm of Little Rock. His term expires May 15, 2006. -David Ross of El Dorado reappointed to the South Arkansas Community College Board of Trustees. He is retired. His term expires Dec. 31, 2010. -J.R. "Buddy" East of Jasper to replace John Payton on the Auctioneers Licensing Board. He is owner of Auction Services. His term expires April 15, 2009. -Bobby Hildebrand of Chidester reappointed to the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. He is owner of Harvey's Grocery. His term expires Jan. 14, 2012. -Mary Thoma of Siloam Springs to replace E.L. Jacobs on the Towing and Recovery Board. She is owner of McKnight's E.W.S. Inc. wrecker service at West Fork. Her term expires June 22, 2007. -Carol Diane Charles of Little Rock reappointed to the Daisy Gatson Bates Holiday Committee. She is a work study coordinator at Philander Smith College. Her term expires Feb. 21, 2006. -Esau Watson of Little Rock to replace Gene McKissic on the Board of Public Accountancy. He is founder of Greater Fellowship Ministries of Pine Bluff. His term expires Aug. 17, 2007. |
