Seven counties declared disaster areas Tuesday, Apr 4, 2006 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Mike Huckabee declared seven Arkansas counties as disaster areas Monday due to damage from storms that moved through the state Sunday. Huckabee also released up to $200,000 from the Governor's Disaster Fund under the Individual Assistance Program to help those who lost their business, homes or belongings in the storms. The money will be available through the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. The seven counties declared disaster areas include Cross, Fulton, Greene, Hot Spring, Randolph, White and Conway. The governor was scheduled to meet with local emergency officials at the Marmaduke Fire Department and tour damaged areas of Greene County by land. He later was scheduled to fly by helicopter over some damaged areas in Cross and White counties, his office said. |
