Governor announces appointments to state panels

LITTLE ROCK - Recent appointments to state boards and commissions were announced Wednesday by Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Those appointed:

-Pam Vaughn of Fordyce reappointed to the Advisory Council for the Education of Gifted and Talented Children. She is a schoolteacher. Her term expires July 20, 2009.

-Kim Cole of Bryant to replace Ronnie Erwin on the Advisory Council for the Education of Gifted and Talented Children. She is a schoolteacher. Her term expires July 20, 2009.

-Cynthia Montgomery of McGehee reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. She is a certified public accountant. The length of her term will be determined by the drawing of lots.

-Frank Wilson of Rison reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. He is secretary-treasurer of Wilson Brothers Lumber Co. The length of his term will be determined by the drawing of lots

-Ian Beer of Monticello reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. He is plant manager of Leer Limited Partnership. The length of his term will be determined by the drawing of lots.

-Rhonda Mullikin of Star City reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. She is Star City School District superintendent. The length of her term will be determined by the drawing of lots.

-Tommy Poole of Eudora reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. He is a farm manager. The length of his term will be determined by the drawing of lots.

-Michael Scott of Hot Springs to replace Jimmie Deer on the Heating, Ventilation, A/C Refrigeration Licensing Board. He is chief building official for the city of Hot Springs. His term expires June 30, 2010.

-Susan Carter of Jonesboro reappointed to the Home Health Care Service Agency Advisory Council. She is owner and president of Home Health Professionals Hospice. Her term expires June 30, 2009.

-Lynne Hill of Camden to replace Becky Del Rio on the Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. She is an audiologist with Alexander Human Development Center. Her term expires June 30, 2009.

-Dr. Stephen Seidman of Conway to replace Brian Porbeck on the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority. He is dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Central Arkansas. His term expires Jan. 14, 2010.

-Donald Williams of Farmington to replace Edward Bradford on the Northwest Technical Institute Board of Directors. He is owner of Williams Tractor. His term expires June 30, 2011.

-Rebecca Dennison of Little Rock to replace Michael Allison on the Sex Offenders Assessment Committee. She is an attorney with Hartsfield, Almand & Denison. Her term expires July 1, 2009.

-Ernest Swearingen of Fort Smith to replace Tammy Almand on the State Board of Sanitarians. He is an environmental health specialist with the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services. His term expires June 30, 2011.

-Vickey Magie of Conway to replace Marlin Freeman on the Arkansas Board of Dispensing Opticians. She is a licensed optician. Her term expires June 30, 2009.

-Dr. Dan Gardner of Benton reappointed to the Arkansas Board of Dispensing Opticians. He is an ophthalmologist with Arkansas Eye Center. His term expires June 30, 2009.

-Kenneth Musteen of Little Rock reappointed to the Arkansas Deaf and Hearing Impaired Telecommunications Services Corp. He is deputy director for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services. His term expires June 1, 2009.

-Dillon Harper of Dennard to replace Randy Churches as District 9 justice of the peace on the Van Buren County Quorum Court. He is a logger. His term expires Dec. 31, 2006.

-Richard Deweese of Green Forest reappointed to the Arkansas Workforce Investment Board. He is a store manager and purchaser. His term expires June 1, 2010.

-Dr. George Haas of Sherwood reappointed to the Arkansas Board of Dispensing Opticians. He is a self-employed optometrist. His term expires June 30, 2009.
