Wooldridge staffer joins Holt Friday, Sep 8, 2006 By Doug Thompson Arkansas News Bureau SPRINGDALE - The former campaign manager of failed Democratic lieutenant governor's candidate Tim Wooldridge is now a volunteer for Republican nominee Jim Holt. Dan Noble said Thursday he was "alarmed" by Democratic nominee Bill Halter's position on whether gay couples should be foster parents. "He polled Arkansas lawmakers on what they would do, decided that a law to prevent it was going to pass anyway and then declared he wouldn't allow it," Noble said. "If he lived here and was in touch with Arkansans, he would have already known the answer for that question." Noble said he agreed with Holt on other issues. Halter's campaign declined comment. Meanwhile, Holt said in a statement that the lieutenant governor's race "is shaping up to be the closest in the state," citing a recent poll that shows him leading Holt 44 percent to 40 percent. "Considering that we're picking up supporters and leaders from the Democratic party, I feel very enthusiastic that we can make the gains necessary to win the race." Holt said. |
