Two Arkansas bank subsidiaries merge Wednesday, Jan 24, 2007 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Liberty Bancshares Inc. announced Tuesday the merger of company subsidiaries in Russellville and Jonesboro. First Arkansas Valley Bank in Russellville and Liberty Bank of Arkansas in Jonesboro will operate under the Liberty Bank of Arkansas name, the company said. Liberty will have 45 banking centers and more than 600 employees statewide, concentrated mainly in Central Arkansas, CEO Wallace W. Fowler said. Officials said the merger will allow the bank to offer same-day posting of all teller transactions until closing at all banking centers, among other benefits. Liberty Bank of Arkansas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Liberty Bancshares and has more than $2.2 billion in assets. |
