Entergy earnings nearly double

LITTLE ROCK - Entergy Corp. announced that its fourth quarter 2006 earnings nearly doubled, up to $268.3 million, or $1.27 per share, compared to $90.2 million, or 43 cents per share, one year ago.

The parent company of Entergy Arkansas, Entergy also announced a $1.5 billion common stock repurchase program to be effective immediately.

Shares of Entergy Corp. (NYSE: ETR) closed Tuesday at $92.59, up 43 cents.
