State home sales down, prices up Tuesday, Jun 5, 2007 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Statewide home sales fell 7.7 percent in April, while the average price rose 3.1 percent, according to data released Monday by the Arkansas Realtors Association. The average price of a home in April was $152,069, compared to $147,422 in the same month a year ago. Home sales in Benton County averaged $188,850 for the month, followed by Pulaski, Carroll, Washington and Faulkner counties, which rounded out the top five for highest average prices. Prices fell in Benton and Washington counties by 1.5 percent and 10.8 percent, respectively, compared to prices in April 2006. In terms of homes sold, Pulaski County ranked highest with 497, a 0.4 percent increase over a year ago. Year-over-year sales declined in Benton, Washington, Garland and Saline counties, which rounded out the list of the top five counties in terms of sales. |
