Governor names new Crime Lab director Thursday, Jun 7, 2007 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - A veteran employee of the state Crime Lab was named as its new executive director Wednesday. Gov. Mike Beebe named Kermit B. Channell II of Benton to replace J.R. Howard, who recently became the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Channell, 45, has worked at the state crime laboratory for 18 years, starting out as autopsy technician. He later worked as a forensic serologist and most recently was scientific operations director and DNA technical leader. In 2005, Channell received the attorney general's Larry Dunklin Award for outstanding advocacy and service to victims of crime. His salary as executive director will be $86,363, according to the governor's office. |
