Dillard's same-store sales fall Friday, Jun 8, 2007 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Dillard's Inc. announced Thursday that same-store sales fell 2 percent in May, while overall sales slipped 1 percent. Overall sales for the four-week period that ended June 2 were $527.9 million. Overall sales in the comparable period a year ago were $533.5 million. Dillard's reported sales in its central and western regions were in line with the company's average sales performance for the period. Sales in the eastern region were below trend. Shoe sales were strong, while cosmetics declined more than trend, Dillard's said. Total sales over the past quarter, or 17 weeks, declined 3 percent, while same-store sales fell 4 percent in the same period, according to the company's press release. Shares of Dillard's (NYSE: DDS) closed Thursday at $34.71, down 35 cents, or 1 percent. |
