Batesville auto parts plant to close Tuesday, Oct 23, 2007 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Automotive parts manufacturer GDX International Holdings Ltd. will close a plant in Batesville that employs about 400 people, officials said Monday. Several of the company's operations were sold to privately held MAPS Holdings Inc., but the sale did not include the Batesville plant, a spokesman for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission said. AEDC officials attended exploratory meetings in Batesville with GDX to see if the plant could be sold, but nothing was worked out, AEDC spokesman Joe Holmes said Monday. The Batesville plant and facilities in Wabash, Ind., and in Canada were not part of the deal. |
