Murphy Oil earnings fall

LITTLE ROCK - Murphy Oil Corp. on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $199.5 million, down 11 percent compared to net income of $224.1 million in the same quarter last year.

Lower earnings in the company's refining and marketing operations were the primary reason income fell, according to the company.

Shares of Murphy Oil (NYSE: MUR) closed Wednesday at $77.05, up $1.37 for a 1.8 percent gain.
