Bill would keep Corps fees in state
Friday, Dec 7, 2007

Stephens Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON - The state's House delegation Thursday introduced legislation to keep in Arkansas more than $3 million spent annually at federal recreation sites.

The bill requires 80 percent of user fees at sites owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to be reinvested for Corps projects in the states where the money is collected.

Reps. Marion Berry, D-Gillett, John Boozman, R-Rogers, Mike Ross, D-Prescott and Vic Snyder, D-Little Rock, are all co-sponsors of the bill.

The Corps of Engineers collected about $4 million in fees in Arkansas last year.
