Governor fills judgeships, makes board appointments
Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008

Arkansas News Bureau

Beebe named John Cone of Pine Bluff as circuit judge for the Sixth Division of the 11th Judicial District-West to replace Judge Thomas Brown, who has announced his resignation, effective Jan. 31.

Cone most recently served as the White Hall city attorney and previously was a deputy prosecutor and public defender in Southeast Arkansas.

The governor named Elizabeth W. Danielson of Booneville as circuit judge for the 1st Division of the 15th Judicial District, replacing Frank Arey, who resigned to take a job with the state Division of Legislative Audit.

Danielson served 14 years as an administrative law judge for the state Workers Compensation Commission. She also served two years on the state Court of Appeals. She is the wife of Justice Paul Danielson, whose election to the state Supreme Court in 2006 created the circuit court vacancy which Arey was appointed to fill.

Both judicial appointments expire Dec. 31.

Beebe appointed Leigh Whiteside of Russellville to the Arkansas State University Board of Trustees, replacing Terry Rothwell. Whiteside's appointment expires Jan. 14, 2013.

Also Tuesday, the governor reappointed Woody Futrell of Nashville to the Arkansas State Police Commission. His appointment expires Jan. 14, 2015.

Beebe reappointed Scott Roussel of Searcy to the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees. Roussel's appointment expires Jan. 14, 2015.
