Fort Smith attorney fined, cautioned Friday, Jan 25, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Fort Smith attorney Naif Samuel Khoury has been cautioned and fined $500 by a Supreme Court panel for the way he represented a client in Crawford County, the state committee that disciplines lawyers announced Thursday. The Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct found Khoury's representation of his client violated several rules of professional conduct. Some of the violations included failing to file a notice of appeal for his client with in 30 days following the denial of two motions, and failing to file in a timely manner with the state Supreme Court the record of the lower court proceedings. Khoury's client, Henry Vidal, was charged in Crawford County with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. In 2006 he entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, with 20 years suspended. |
