Eight top-notch AAU teams in Conway Tuesday, Feb 12, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau CONWAY - Eight of the top 17-and-under AAU boys basketball teams in the country are to compete in April in the AAU Old School Super Regional in Conway. The field includes Oklahoma Athletes First, which features highly regarded center Daniel Orton, shooting guard Xavier Henry, small forward Terrance Boyd and power forward Kyle Hardick. Also scheduled to compete in the Junior Boys Platinum Division games on April 19-20 are Memphis YOMCA, St. Louis Eagles, Charlotte Royals, Alabama Lasers and the Tennessee Travelers. The Arkansas Wings will be the host with both the Red and Gold teams competing. The tournament is on the first weekend of the NCAA basketball spring evaluation period and more than 250 college coaches are expected to attend. "The Super Regional format is designed to insure the teams will face the highest level of competition in each game," said Ron Crawford, longtime AAU coach. "This not only gives the fans an opportunity to see great games but the college recruiters will be able to evaluate players competing against the best every game." The tournament will also include eight travel teams from the class of 2010 and 2011 and a girls AAU Super Regional for four age divisions. |
