AG settles pharmaceutical lawsuit Wednesday, Feb 27, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced Tuesday the settlement of a lawsuit that accused Barr Pharmaceuticals of violating state and federal antitrust laws. The lawsuit alleged that Barr Pharmaceuticals accepted $20 million from another drug company that was the sole U.S. distributor of the prescription oral contraceptive Ovcan and in exchange agreed not to market a generic version of the drug. The Arkansas AG's office will receive $105,000 from the settlement, which 33 other states and the District of Columbia were a part of. McDaniel and other states settled a lawsuit against the other company, Warner Chilcott, in 2007 for $5.5 million. |
