AETN recognized for promoting employee health, well-being Tuesday, Mar 11, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas public television has received national recognition for its efforts to promote employee health and well-being while enhancing organizational performance. The American Psychological Association recognized the Arkansas Educational Television Network and four other organizations around the country. The five reported an average turnover rate of 11 percent, while the national average is 40 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. Surveys completed by the winning organizations show that 21 percent of employees reported experiencing chronic work stress compared to 34 percent nationally, and more than 80 percent of employees reported being satisfied with their job, compared to 66 percent nationally. "Creating a psychologically healthy work place means more than just remediating problems," said David Ballard, the American Psychological Association's assistant executive director for corporate relations and business strategy. "It's about promoting good health, enhancing performance and creating a work environment where both employees and the organization can thrive." |
