UA announces joint public service MBA degree program Tuesday, Mar 18, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - The University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service and the Sam M. Walton College of Business announced Monday the creation of a dual degree program which will allow students to receive both a master's degree in public services and a Master of Business Administration. "Many students interested in public service find that they need business skills such as accounting and marketing to help the communities where they are working," Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford said Monday. Classes for the new degree program will begin this fall on the Little Rock and Fayetteville campuses. Students will spend a semester at the Clinton School in Little Rock, then two at the Walton College in Fayetteville, then return to Little Rock for a final semester, officials said. In between, students will complete group and international projects with practical elements of both business and public service. Dean Dan Worrell of the Walton College said the "partnership with the Clinton School provides an opportunity for our business students to network with and learn from students who are going into the field of public service." The Clinton School already offers concurrent degree programs, including a Master of Public Service/Juris Doctorate with the William Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock law school and an MPS/Master of Public Health with the College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. |
