LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas 2008-2009 hunting seasons approved by the state Game and Fish Commission on Thursday.

Deer archery and crossbow, Oct. 1-Feb. 28.

Deer, modern gun:

-Deer Zones 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11, Nov. 8-30.

-Zone 4, Nov. 8-9.

-Zone 5, Nov. 8-9 and Nov. 15-16.

-Zone 4A, 5A, 13, 14 and 15, Nov. 8-Dec. 7.

-Zones 4B and 5B, Nov. 8-16.

-Zones 9 and 12, Nov. 8-Dec. 14.

-Zone 16, 16A and 17, Nov. 8-Dec. 25.

Christmas holiday modern gun deer hunt, all zones, Dec. 26-28.

Special youth modern gun deer hunt, all zones, Nov. 1-2.

Deer, muzzle-loading:

-Zones 1, 2, 3, 4A, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15, Oct. 18-26 and Dec. 13-15.

-Zones 9, 12, 16, 16A and 17, Oct. 18-26 and Dec. 29-31.

-Zones 4, 4B, 5 and 5B closed.

Spring turkey firearms and archery/crossbow:

-Turkey Zones 1, 2, 3, 4B, 5, 5b, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 9, and 10, April 12-May 2.

-Zones 1A, 4, 4A, 5A and 9A, April 12-25. Zone 17. April 5-27.

Fall turkey archery/crossbow, all zones, Oct. 1-Feb. 28.

Fall turkey firearms:

-Zones 3, 5B, 6 and 17, Oct. 11-17.

-Zones 1, 1A, 2, 4, 4A, 4B, 5, 5A, 7, 7A, 8, 9, 9A and 10, closed.

Quail, Nov. 1-Feb. 8 statewide.

Rabbit, Sept. 1-Feb. 28 statewide.

Furbearer, gray fox, mink, red fox and striped skunk hunting, Sept. 1-Feb. 28. Day hunting only.

Opossum hunting, Sept. 1-Feb. 28. Day or night hunting.

Bobcat, Oct. 1-Feb. 28.

Raccoon, July 1-Aug. 31, night hunting only. Sept. 1-March 31, day or night hunting.

Muskrat, nutria and beaver hunting, Sept. 1-March 31, day hunting only.

Badger, spotted skunk (civet cat) and weasel hunting, closed.

Furbearer trapping, other than beaver, coyote, muskrat, and nutria, Nov. 15-Feb. 22.

Coyote trapping, Aug. 1-March 31. Beaver, muskrat, and nutria trapping, Nov. 15-March 31.

Squirrel, Sept. 6-Feb. 28.

Spring squirrel, May 16-June 14.
