Breaking News: Cabot policewoman shoots attacker Sunday, Mar 23, 2008 By Bill Lawson blawson@cabotstarherald.com A 36-year-old Cabot policewoman responding to a call of a domestic abuse altercation shot the alleged perpetrator twice this morning after he attacked her. Cabot Police spokesperson Sgt. Brent Lucas said the five-year veteran police officer said she was attacked when she arrived on the scene at 11:52 a.m. Lucas said the police officer was "jumped" by the 40- to 50 year-old man when she came to answer the 9-1-1 call at 707 South Pine Street in Cabot. He said the man involved "choked" the officer and "attempted to grab her gun." Lucas said two witnesses pulled the man off the police officer while he had her on the ground. He said once the man was off the police officer he got away from the two witnesses and attacked her again "going for her gun and she shot him twice." Lucas said the man was transported to North Metro Hospital in Jacksonville where his condition is uncertain. He declined to name the officer involved in the shooting or the man shot. |
