Presidential portraits to be displayed at state Capitol

LITTLE ROCK - The only complete collection of American presidential oil portraits by one artist will be on display at the state Capitol starting next Tuesday, Secretary of State Charlie Daniels said.

The paintings by North Carolina artist Chas Fagan will be displayed in the second-floor rotunda through June 27. The exhibit is presented by C-SPAN and the White House Historical Association.

Biographical sketches and photos of the presidents and front pages of newspapers announcing presidential election results will also be part of the exhibit, which is on a national tour.

C-SPAN commissioned the portraits in 1999 for its Peabody Award-winning series "American Presidents: Life Portraits," also the title of the exhibit.
