Governor announces appointments to state panels

LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Mike Beebe announced 18 appointments to Arkansas boards and commission Thursday.

Those appointed:

-Bill Altom of Little Rock to replace Victor Vaughn on the Arkansas Independent Living Council. His term expires Feb. 1, 2011.

-Cheryl Beene of Hughes reappointed to the Health Services Permit Commission. Her term expires April 9, 2011.

-Terry Burnet of Osceola to replace Eric Treat on the Arkansas Independent Living Council. His term expires Feb. 1, 2011.

-Karen Garcia of Hot Springs to replace Lynda Simmons on the Board of Visitors for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts. Her term expires Jan. 14, 2015.

-Dr. Bruce Harlan of Blytheville reappointed to the State Crime Laboratory Board. His term expires Jan. 14, 2015.

-Breck Hopkins of North Little Rock to replace Janie Huddleston on the Health Services Permit Commission. The term expires April 9, 2010.

-David Laffoon of Searcy to replace Eric Herget on the the Health Services Permit Commission. His term expires April 9, 2011.

-Steve Lightle of Searcy to replace Vince May on the Arkansas Tobacco Control Board. His term expires July 1, 2012.

-Abbie Minor of Little Rock to replace Dr. Syed Ali on the Arkansas Independent Living Council. Her term expires Feb. 1, 2010.

-Jim Petrus of Fort Smith to replace Gayla Lanum on the Health Services Permit Commission. His term expires April 9, 2011.

-Frank Richardson of Osceola to replace Russell Farr on the Arkansas Northeastern College Board of Trustees. His term expires Dec. 31, 2012.

-Shannon Aston of Little Rock to replace Dr. Terrell Tebbetts on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. Her term expires June 30, 2012.

-Kris Baldwin of Maumelle to replace Paul Halverson on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. She serves at the will of the governor.

-Janice Fortner of Searcy to replace Cleon Green on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. Her term expires July 26, 2008.

-Deborah Frazier of Little Rock to replace Eva Reeve on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. She serves at the will of the governor.

-Dewey Graves of Jonesboro to replace Vickie Oxford on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. His term expires June 30, 2012.

-Tami Harlan of North Little Rock to replace Patti Manus on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. She serves at the will of the governor.

-Bonnie Johnson of Little Rock to replace Karen Nellums on the Governor's Developmental Disability Council. Her term expires June 30, 2012.
