Dillard's sales fall 4 percent in April Friday, May 9, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Dillard's Inc. reported Thursday that April's same-store sales fell to $476.8 million, down 4 percent compared to the same period last year. Sales were down 3 percent in total stores. Company officials noted an extra shopping day in the comparable period last year because of a shift in the Easter holiday. For the month, sales in the home and furniture category were "significantly below trend," Dillard's officials said in a press release. Shares of Dillard's (NYSE: DDS) closed Thursday at $19.00, down $1.13 for a 5.6 percent drop. |
