Burnett Bailey named to state election commission Friday, May 23, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - The widow of a passenger killed on United Airlines Flight 93 was named Thursday to the state Board of Election Commissioners. State Republican Party Chairman Dennis Milligan appointed Deena Burnett Bailey of Little Rock to a four-year term on the commission that oversees state elections. The state GOP chairman makes one appointment to the seven-member board. "I am honored to have been asked to serve in this capacity," Burnett Bailey said. "This is a great opportunity to give back to a state that has given so much to my family." Burnett Bailey is the widow of Tom Burnett, one of the passengers killed when United Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001. She is a board member of the Twentieth Century Club, co-coordinator of the Ministry of Mothers for the Little Rock Diocese, co-author of the book Fighting Back: Living Life Beyond Ourselves, board member for the organization Girl Ambition and a speaker for the Young America's Foundation. |
