Beebe welcomes Verizon's expanded presence in Arkansas Thursday, Jun 5, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - Gov. Mike Beebe released a statement this afternoon welcoming Verizon Wireless after it announced it would purchase Alltel Corp. for $28.1 billion. "In acquiring Alltel, Verizon is obtaining a company with deep Arkansas roots and qualified, dedicated employees," Beebe said. "I hope those attributes will resonate strongly as decisions are made about how best to incorporate Alltel into the Verizon family." Scott Ford is scheduled to address the media at 2 p.m. at Alltel's corporate headquarters. |
