Journalism group selects officers Saturday, Jun 7, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists elected new officers Friday for 2008-2009. Andrew DeMillo, statehouse correspondent for The Associated Press' Little Rock bureau, was elected president. Charlie Frago, a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, was elected vice president. Democrat-Gazette reporter John Krupa was elected secretary and Bruce Plopper, journalism professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was re-elected treasurer. Shane Deitert with Fox Channel 16 in Little Rock was elected to his first-term on the board. Returning board members elected Friday were Rob Moritz with the Stephens Media's Arkansas News Bureau; Jeanne Rollberg, a journalism professor at UALR; Tom Larimer, executive director of the Arkansas Press Association; and AP news editor Kelly Kissell. Out-going president Frank Fellone was elected president emeritus. The Arkansas chapter is scheduled to host SPJ's annual regional conference in Little Rock next spring. Region 12 includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. The conference is tentatively scheduled for early April. |
