Grants for companies seeking tech development available
Tuesday, Jul 15, 2008

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority announced Monday that $356,975 in grant funding is available to qualified companies through the Technology Transfer Assistance Grant program for the 2009 fiscal year that began July 1.

The program, created in 1994, assists Arkansas enterprises in the improvement of products or processes through the transfer of technical solutions to technology-based, industry-driven problems to enhance competitiveness.

Qualified applicants are eligible for up to two grants, each valued at $3,750 per fiscal year, to cover costs associated with transferring new or existing technology from a qualified provider such as a public or private consultant, laboratory or institution. Each project must have a time frame of no longer than 90 days.

"Over the last 13 years, TTAG grants have afforded numerous opportunities for Arkansas manufacturers to improve their bottom line results through the transfer of technology," said Dan Curtis, director of Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions, a program of the authority. "The current economic climate is an additional incentive to apply and be considered for these funds."

The program is funded through state appropriations of $156,975. AMS provided an additional $200,000.

Arkansas enterprises, including manufacturers both large and small, are eligible. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.
