BREAKING NEWS: Hardin to reimburse $300K bonus Wednesday, Jul 16, 2008 LITTLE ROCK - Lu Hardin, the president of the University of Central Arkansas, says today he will personally reimburse the school for a $300,000 bonus the UCA board decided in private to give him. In May, the board voted in executive session to approve the payment but made no mention of it when it voted later in public on general personnel matters. Hardin said later he received no raise but also did not mention the bonus. "I already have acknowledged that this matter was not handled well, and I deeply regret the mistakes we made," Hardin said today in a release. "The UCA Board of Trustees and I are taking corrective measures to ensure this error never happens again." Hardin said meetings with faculty representatives influenced his decision, and he said he hoped refunding the money would put the issue to rest. |
