DSC Logistics opens West Memphis distribution facility Tuesday, Jul 29, 2008 Arkansas News Bureau LITTLE ROCK - DSC Logistics officially opened a new 600,000 square-foot regional distribution facility in West Memphis on Monday that employs 50 people. The Illinois-based logistics and supply chain management company works with several Fortune 500 companies and also smaller companies operating in the consumer packaged goods food, healthcare and electronics industries, among others. The West Memphis facility will exclusively distribute products of the J.M. Smucker Co., a manufacturer of fruit spreads and other products. "We have been very impressed with the support we have received from many of the local government agencies and the mayor," said Ann Drake, CEO of DSC Logistics. Drake praised the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for helping the company begin operations quickly. She also called the work force "eager to learn and hard working." Distribution operations are already underway at the facility. The company moved to West Memphis in April after a February tornado damaged its existing structure across in Memphis, killing three employees and injuring ten others. |
