Pine Bluff attorney appointed to appeals court
Thursday, Jul 31, 2008

Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - Eugene Hunt of Pine Bluff was appointed to the Arkansas Court of Appeals on Wednesday by Gov. Mike Beebe.

Hunt replaces Judge Brian Miller, who earlier this year was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Hunt ran for Miller's seat in the May nonpartisan judicial election but lost to Jefferson County District Judge Waymond Brown.

Brown is to be sworn in as Court of Appeals judge in January. The district covers Arkansas, Chicot, Desha, Jefferson, Lee, Phillips and St. Francis counties in southeastern Arkansas.

Hunt, 62, previously served as a special justice to the state Supreme Court and as a special circuit judge in Jefferson County. He has been a lawyer in private practice for 36 years, specializing in employment discrimination cases.
