FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas will play Northern Illinois on Sept. 20, 2014, according to Northern Illinois athletic director Jeff Compher.

It is the first known nonconference game scheduled by the Razorbacks for 2014.

“It's always good to play elite schools from other conferences," Compher said in the school’s announcement. "This is a place we haven't been to for quite some time and provides a great opportunity to showcase our program in an SEC venue. It's a game our players and our fans will look forward to. I want to thank (Arkansas AD) Jeff Long and his staff for working with us to get this game on the 2014 schedule.”

The 2014 game will be the second meeting between the programs. Arkansas beat Northern Illinois 30-27 in 1994. UNI is 1-8 against SEC schools, notching its only win against Alabama in 2003.
