HOOVER, Ala. Arkansas is confident it can finally climb past LSU and Alabama this season, topping the two teams to win the Southeastern Conference Western Division championship.

The media participating in a preseason vote at SEC Media Days doesn't agree.

Arkansas was projected to finish third behind LSU and Alabama in the media poll, which was released on the final day of the event at the Wynfrey Hotel. The Tigers who also were picked to win the SEC title earned 139 of 222 first-place votes for the division title. Alabama had 72, while Arkansas earned six.

Auburn, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Ole Miss are projected to finish fourth through seventh, respectively.

Georgia was tabbed as the SEC East favorite ahead of South Carolina. Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Kentucky are projected to finish third through seventh, respectively.

Arkansas also had four players who earned preseason All-SEC first-team honors Thursday. The group included: QB Tyler Wilson, RB Knile Davis, WR Cobi Hamilton and RB Dennis Johnson (all-purpose performer).

TE Chris Gragg, OL Alvin Bailey and LB Alonzo Highsmith receiver preseason second-team honors, while punter Dylan Breeding earned preseason third-team honors.

LSU led the way with 13 players on the preseason All-SEC team, while Alabama had 12 selections. Auburn had 10 players recognized, followed by Arkansas with eight.
