FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas fullback/linebacker Kiero Small is undergoing surgery for a foot injury, according to coach John L. Smith.
The senior — who has played a big part in Arkansas' run game because of his blocking ability — suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice.
The statement from Smith does not indicate the exact extent of Small's injury or mention a timeline for his return.
Smith said Arkansas will "continue to monitor his status."
Small spent preseason camp playing both fullback and linebacker. He didn't get any snaps at linebacker during the opener, but spent time at the position in practice this week and Smith indicated he would play the position some against Louisiana-Monroe before suffering the foot injury.
Small's absence against ULM would leave Arkansas with Kody Walker and Morgan Linton at fullback.
Arkansas also used tackle Grady Ollison in a goal line package in the opener.
