FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn has been selected as manager for the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

USA Baseball announced Van Horn's appointment on Monday morning. Van Horn was an assistant coach with the collegiate national team in 2011.

"I couldn’t be more excited and honored to be selected as manager for the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team,” Van Horn said in a news release Monday. “Anytime you have the opportunity to wear the Team USA jersey, it’s an honor and a privilege. Serving as an assistant coach for the team in 2011 was a great experience and I’m excited to put together a great group of coaches and players to represent our country in 2014.”

Van Horn is in his 11th season at Arkansas and is 1,017-478 in 25 seasons as a head coach. He has led his teams to five College World Series appearances and 14 NCAA Tournament berths in that time. It includes last year's trip to Omaha with the Razorbacks, which was his third with the program.

Van Horn will work with his staff - which has not been completed - to put together a 22-man roster for the collegiate team's 2014 tour.

"We are pleased to announce Dave Van Horn as the manager of the 2014 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team,” Eric Campbell, USA Baseball General Manager for national teams said in a news release. “Dave’s success at the University of Arkansas speaks for itself, and we are thrilled to have him in place as we prepare for next summer.”
