FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas pitcher Tyler Wright has signed with the Seattle Mariners.
Seattle selected Wright in the 26th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft earlier this month. He will begin his pro career with Seattle's rookie league team in Everett, Wash.
"Finally signed my first professional contract!" Wright posted on his Twitter page early Tuesday. "I am more than honored to be apart of this Mariner organization!"
The left-hander went 1-1 with a 0.00 earned run average in 20 1/3 innings last season.
Wright was among an NCAA-leading 11 Razorbacks selected in the 2013 MLB Draft. Nine players have signed pro contracts. Pitcher Ryne Stanek (first round, Tampa Bay Rays) and first baseman Eric Fisher (30th round, Miami Marlins) have not signed with their organizations.
The deadline to sign is July 12. Stanek will likely sign with the Rays, while Fisher could return to school after being selected as a redshirt sophomore.
