LITTLE ROCK — Philip Taldo of Springdale, a real estate broker and longtime friend of Gov. Asa Hutchinson, has been named to the Arkansas Highway Commission.
Hutchinson made the announcement Monday during an address before the Springdale Rotary Club. Taldo was selected to replace outgoing commissioner Frank Scott of Little Rock, who was appointed to the position in 2013 by former Gov. Mike Beebe, to fill the unexpired term of John Burkhalter, a North Little Rock developer who stepped down to run for lieutenant governor in the 2014 race.
Citing a long friendship with Taldo, who also serves on the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and the Northwest Arkansas Airport Commission, Hutchinson expressed confidence in Taldo’s abilities.
“He understands infrastructure and the connection between infrastructure and the economy, with highways being a key part of infrastructure,” Hutchinson said. The governor said his friendship with Taldo goes back many years, describing Taldo as “an ardent friend and supporter.”
“He’s been with me through thick and thin, but he’s also been with Northwest Arkansas through the good times and the bad times,” said the governor.
Taldo is co-owner of Weichert Realtors — The Griffin Co. and president of One Springdale, a development company in Springdale. His term on the Arkansas Highway Commission will expire in 2026.
