LITTLE ROCK — A bill to designate an official Arkansas state dinosaur cleared the House on Monday.

In a voice vote with no dissent, the House approved House Concurrent Resolution 1003 by Rep. Greg Leding, D-Fayetteville. The resolution would designate Arkansaurus fridayi, a dinosaur discovered near Lockesburg in 1972 and first studied at the University of Arkansas, as the state dinosaur of Arkansas.

The resolution goes to the Senate.
