Prescott tennis team performers entered into tournament competition last week to compete at the district tournament hosted at Burns Park in Little Rock.
Prescott's defending 3A-8 district tournament boys champion Timothy Hopkins advanced through the first two rounds but lost in the semifinals to finish third place overall. Hopkins will return to the Class 3A state boys tennis tournament Oct. 16 at Burns Park in Little Rock.
He had a first round bye then defeated Payton Savage of McGehee in sets to advance to third round falling to Jayden Howell of Bismarck. Hopkins won last year's 3A-8 District Tournament and finished the season with 12 victories and only two losses.
Prescott High School tennis team members Brooke Burton, Wyatt Henderson and Justin Brown all competed in district tournament matches last week in Little Rock. Burton won her first round match in singles competition against Nicole Knowles of Drew Central, but lost to Skylar Affry of McGehee in the second round. Prescott boys doubles team Henderson and Brown competed in first round action but lost to Fordyce in sets.
This season, Prescott tennis team members have competed well on the road and at home during the 2017 tennis season under head coach B.J. Rogers.
