The Fountain Lake Lady Cobras fell 28-24 to the Mena Ladycats Nov.  21 at Irvin J Bass Gymnasium.
The Lady Cobras, coached by Chris Mungle, starters included senior guard No. 10 Molly Breshears, senior power forward No. 23 Isabelle Baker, senior guard No. 20 Hannah Ross, senior guard No. 11 Lindsey Blees and sophomore guard No. 4 Jillian Norman.
Mena coach Scott Wright started sophomore guard No. 5 Kiara Kesterson, senior power forward No. 21 Grace Wagner, sophomore forward No. 30 Cadie Cannon, sophomore power forward No. 30 Paige Evans and sophomore forward No. 25 Chantal Sims.
The two schools finished the first period tied 10-10.
Mena outscored Fountain Lake 6-3 in the second period to take a 16-13 lead at the half.
Both squads continued to struggle shooting the ball in the third period, as the Ladycats outscored the Lady Cobras 5-2 in the third period to extend their lead to six at 21-15.
The Lady Cobras outscored Mena 9-7 in the final period after going on a 6-0 run to tie the game with 3:43 left to play. The Ladycats answered by outscoring Fountain Lake 7-2 down the stretch to take the win.
Ross led the Lady Cobras with five points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made four steals. Baker chipped in with five points and three rebounds. Breshears added three points and four steals.
Evans led the Ladycats with 13 points, pulled down four rebounds and recorded three steals.
Fountain Lake shot 29 percent from the free throw line, making four of 14 attempts, while Mena shot 70 percent from the charity stripe, making seven of 10 attempts.
