The construction of a new library at 223 U.S. 71 in Mountainburg is due to be complete in March.

The Crawford County Library Board received an update on the library project during its meeting on Tuesday, according to Crawford County Library System Director Eva White. White said the construction manager for the project, Crawford Construction Co., is ahead of schedule. She told the board the company would be finished on April 9. However, during a meeting with Crawford Construction on Wednesday morning, she learned the finish date has been moved up to March 30.

The new library is almost double the size of the current Mountainburg library at 1300 N. U.S. 71, White said previously.

White said the board also approved the naming rights policy for the new Mountainburg library during Tuesday's meeting. A room in the library, as well as shelving and the library itself, can be named for a person if someone donates a certain amount.

"We have some people that have donated some, well, rock ... and that sort of thing, so they want to be able to honor those people that have given either in-kind things or money," White said.

The cost of being able to name a part of the library varies depending on the room or type of shelving in question, according to the policy.
