The Community Action Program for Central Arkansas (CAPCA) still has winter utility assistance available for people in need.

After the winter assistance program ends, CAPCA officials said, the program will remain closed until the state sets a reopening date. State officials will make that decision in July.

“All interested applicants must provide proof of all household income for the previous month for all household members 18 years of age and older,” officials said. “If a household has not had income during the previous month you will need CAPCA’s Contribution and/or Collateral Statement.”

Applicants must provide both a light and gas bill as well as a valid state or government issued ID.

“No determination can be made until all requested information has been received,” CAPCA officials said.

Applications will be accepted from 8:15-11 a.m. and from 1:15-3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The office will be closed from 12-1 p.m. for lunch.

“Applicants are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis,” CAPCA officials said. “Arriving between these hours does not guarantee that an interview can be conducted; staff will serve as many applicants as possible during the scheduled interview times. It is recommended that you arrive early.”
