“It was a cold and rainy day 489 days ago for the groundbreaking of our Outreach Center, and today is a cold and rainy day for the ribbon cutting, but we are so blessed to have finished this facility for fun, fellowship, physical training and more importantly, for higher training in Godliness,” said pastor Denny Wright.
“I’m also happy to have on hand on this day, Jim Raney, choir director, and Kevin Bright, our new associate pastor,” he said. “This occasion needs a ‘rainy’, a ‘bright’ and I’m always ‘right’,” joked Wright.
It was a fitting ribbon cutting ceremony April 7, with a room filled with guests and celebrities. Senator Bill Sample, Judge Jeff Avery and Leigh Anna Gildner, filling in for Representative French Hill.
Adding to the attendees were representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the HSV Property Owners’ Association. Alan Kays, Flynco Inc. project manager, and architect Rik Sowell were also in attendance to answer questions.
There was a special opening concert celebration on April 6. Clay Crosse, multi award-winning gospel artist, sang with gifted style to nearly 300 from the stage in the new gymnasium. In 1994, Crosse won the Dove Award for “Best New Artist of the Year” and his song “Sold Out Believer” reached number 15 on the Christian music charts.

“We have so many facilities to share with our community,” said John Miller, outreach manager. “In fact, we have 120 volunteers who are assisting in our programs.” The center section is a very special area called ‘The Gathering Place’ where we have comfortable seating, coffee bar, TV and other amenities we’re happy to share.”
