Six individuals will receive The Buffaloes’ Foundation John L. Ware Memorial Scholarship during a breakfast Saturday morning.

Six individuals will receive The Buffaloes’ Foundation John L. Ware Memorial Scholarship during a breakfast Saturday morning.
Scholarship recipients are:
• Aiyanna Bartley, Clarksburg High School
• Khalil Brownlee, Malvern High School
• Jeylyn Grenada, Arkadelphia High School
• Symone Jones, Arkadelphia High School
• Ananda Nelson, E-Stem Public Charter School
• Radreka Perry, Arkadelphia High School.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Walker Conference Center, located on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.
Guest speaker for the occasion is Shayla Johnson. The breakfast is free, but donations are welcome.
A 1966 graduate of J.E. Peake High School, John Ware earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from Ouachita Baptist University. He graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the inaugural Honors Program.
Ware went on to earn his MBA from Syracuse University before serving as the City Manager of both Austin and Dallas, Texas. He was founder of the 21st Century, LLC, a private equity firm in Dallas, where he served as president and Chief Executive Officer.
In addition, to the scholarship recipients, two individuals were inducted into the 2018 Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. at the Community Family Enrichment Center.
Inductees are:
• Dorothy Blevins, retired educator
• Uriah Helms, posthumous.
Guest speaker will be Rev. Randolph Martin. Music will be rendered by James Horton.
The Buffaloes’ Foundation will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. A handout will be available highlighting the accomplishments over the past 25 years.
