CAPCA Commodity Distribution: 8:15 - 11:30 a.m Thursday, November 8; CAPCA Administrative Office, 707 Robins St., Suite 118 in Conway;The Emergency Food Assistance Program works to improve the health of qualified applicants. Commodities will be given on a first come, first serve basis. REQUIREMENTS: Must meet income guidelines, declaration of all household income and photo identification. If you are picking up commodities for someone, you must have a signed and dated statement from that person giving you permission to pick up their commodities. You may pick up for only one other person. 

Toad Suck Car Club: 7 p.m. every second Monday of the month; Smitty's BBQ in Conway; Members arrive around 6:00 for dinner prior to meeting. The public is invited to attend.

Arkansas Coding Academy Adult Classes: At the Arkansas Coding Academy, students can be retrained for a new career within several months. They offer 3-month full-time and 6-month part-time tracks taught by local senior-level developers. The programming language for each course is based on input and feedback from local companies, and the curriculum is structured around project-based assignments with a final project based heavily in the core language for that course. CAPCA serves Arkansas, Cleburne, Desha, Faulkner, Lincoln, Lonoke and White counties in Arkansas, and Tangipahoa, Parish in Louisiana.

 

Festival of Chairs: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 25; Legacy Acres; The Festival of Chairs' signature feature are the repurposed chairs by local artists. The chairs are symbolic of the children and families that the Children’s Advocacy Alliance serves on a daily basis. The chairs start the journey broken, tattered, abused, then they arrive at the Festival of Chairs as beautiful works of art; this is the visual representation of the path walked by the children we serve. These chairs, along with other works of art and hundreds of other unique items, are featured in live, silent and super silent auctions.

 

Conway Writers Group: 2-4 p.m. every Friday; Ola and John Hawks Senior Center, 705 E. Siebenmorgan Road, Conway; The group views all writings as creative. Its goals are to encourage, assist and celebrate writing in all its forms. Newcomers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to bring writing samples. Meetings are free and open to the public.
