Fiscal office lowers state revenue forecast


LITTLE ROCK — An expected decline in tax collections between now and June 30 caused state budget officials on Monday to downgrade the revenue forecast for the remainder of the fiscal year by 0.3 percent.


Revenues are expected to be down 1.7 percent compared to last year.


State Department of Finance and Administration Director Richard Weiss said in a letter to the co-chairmen of Legislative Council that net available revenues for the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends June 30, are expected to reach $4.9 billion, about $83.2 million — or 1.7 percent — below FY 2013.

Lottery Commission discusses allowing ticket purchases with debit cards


LITTLE ROCK — The cash-only restriction on lottery ticket purchases is excluding a segment of the population that doesn’t carry cash, state Lottery Director Bishop Woosley said Monday.


Woosley said during the state Lottery Commission’s regular monthly meeting that he continues to favor allowing people to use debit cards to buy lottery tickets. Also Monday, a committee of the Lottery Commission endorsed the idea of increasing employees’ mileage reimbursement rates.

Insurance officials hope to see more Arkansans use improved federal website


LITTLE ROCK — With the federal insurance marketplace website now functioning more smoothly, according to the Obama administration, state insurance officials are hoping the previously paltry enrollment by Arkansans will surge in the next three weeks.

DRA invests $250,000 In Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub


LITTLE ROCK — The Delta Regional Authority on Monday awarded $251,105 to the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub for facilities and operations.


Announced in July, the Innovation Hub is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing entrepreneurial activity in Arkansas. It will house three inter-connected ventures that will work together to provide education, training, prototyping and start up and entrepreneurial opportunities.
