GIMME FIVE — KEYS TO TODAY’S GAME

GIMME FIVE — KEYS TO TODAY’S GAME

1. Third-Down Success

Florida has been dominant on third downs this season, allowing opponents to convert just 18 percent (8 of 45). The Gators have forced three-and-outs on 21 of 44 drives. So the Razorbacks must find ways to convert and move the chains tonight.

2. Stop The Run

Arkansas was gashed on the ground by Texas A&M (262 yards) and faces another challenge tonight. RB Matt Jones is coming off a career game (176 yards) and Florida averages 211 rushing yards a game. Arkansas must stop the run to win the game.

3. No Special Teams Gaffes

Arkansas’ first road trip turned sour because of special teams mistakes and Florida is capable of hurting the Hogs as well. The Gators have blocked 13 kicks in 30 games under coach Will Muschamp. It included a blocked punt that led a TD vs. Miami.

4. Win The Fourth

Arkansas has fallen well short of its goal to dominate the fourth quarter the past two weeks. Rutgers and Texas A&M outscored the Hogs 21-0. A strong fourth quarter is required if Arkansas plans to pick up its first win in the Swamp tonight.

5. Limit Turnovers

Arkansas had success on offense last week, but a critical interception proved to be a deciding factor in another loss. The Gators thrive on turnovers, forcing at least one in 15 straight games. Breaking the streak would certainly aid Arkansas’ upset hopes.

TODAY’S KEY MATCHUP

Arkansas C Travis Swanson (6-5, 315, Sr.)

Key Statistics: Scheduled to make 43rd straight start

Swanson has been the rock in Arkansas’ offensive line, which grew much younger last week when freshmen guards Dan Skipper and Denver Kirkland started next to him against Texas A&M. The senior has been in the spotlight this week, though, when Damien Jacobs indicated the Razorbacks are "a little dirty" and mentioned Swanson specifically. Bret Bielema defended his captain Thursday, saying he loves the way Swanson plays the game. His performance will be key to Arkansas’ success.

Florida DT Damien Jacobs (6-3, 286, Sr.)

Key Statistics: 14 tackles, 3 ½ TFLs, 2 ½ sacks in 16 games

Jacobs got Arkansas’ attention earlier this week when he said the Razorbacks were "a little dirty" in the trenches. So he’ll certainly be in the spotlight tonight. Jacobs earned the first start of his Florida career last week at nose tackle as the Gators adjust to losing All-SEC defensive tackle Dominique Easley to injury. The senior is part of a deep and talented front that has been dominant through four games. The Razorbacks’ physical front will be the biggest test to date for the Gators, though.

EDGE: Florida DT Damien Jacobs
