LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe on Tuesday appointed University of Arkansas at Hope Chancellor Chris Thomason to the Arkansas Workforce Investment Board.

Thomason replaces Dr. Dan Bakke, who resigned earlier this year as president of Pulaski Technical College, and his appointment expires Aug. 10, 2013.

Thomason was one of 19 appointments to state boards and commissions announced by the governor. Others appointed:

—Billy Bunn of Arkadelphia reappointed to the Residential Building Contractors Committee. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2015.

—Dr. David Busby of Alma reappointed to the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Advisory Committee. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2016.

—Fire Chief Stacey Caplener of Pleasant Plains reappointed to the Arkansas Fire Protection Services Board. His appointment expires Oct. 14, 2015.

—The Rev. Steve Copley of North Little Rock replaces Dr. Dan Hawkins on the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Advisory Committee. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2016.

—Sam Elardo of Helena-West Helena reappointed to the Delta Cultural Center Policy Advisory Board. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2015.

—Joe Griffith of Holly Grove replaces Nathan "Andrew" Bagley on the Delta Cultural Center Policy Advisory Board. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2015.

—Dr. George Haas of North Little Rock reappointed to the Arkansas Board of Dispensing Opticians. His appointment expires June 30, 2015.

—Linda Hanson of Little Rock replaces James Stephens on the State Board of Registration for Professional Geologists. Her appointment expires Oct. 1, 2017.

—Richard Harp of Little Rock reappointed to the Residential Building Contractors Committee. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2015.

—Marvin Helms of Arkadelphia replaces Larry Fielder on the the Grade "A" Milk Program Advisory Committee. His appointment expires July 31, 2013.

—The Rev. Dexter Howard Sr., of Fayetteville reappointed to the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission. His appointment expires Sept. 1, 2016.

—Reggie Jackson of Conway reappointed to the Delta Cultural Center Policy Advisory Board. His appointment Oct. 1, 2015.

—Fire Chief Wrotie Koller of Tuckerman replaces Cary Bennett on the State Fire Prevention Commission. His appointment expires July 18, 2015.

—Wonder Lowe of Little Rock replaces Barbara Kumpe on the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Advisory Committee. The appointment expires Oct. 1, 2016.

—Dr. Richard "Scott" Pace of Little Rock replaces Rose Crain on the Arkansas State Medical Board. His appointment expires Dec. 31, 2015.

—Dr. Jess Porter of Little Rock replaces Bob Cornish on the State Board of Registration for Professional Geologists. His appointment expires Oct. 1, 2017.

—Emily Rucker of Alma reappointed to the Residential Building Contractors Committee. Her appointment expires Oct. 1, 2015.

—Andrea Walker of Jonesboro replaces Zina Frazier on the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission. Her appointment expires Oct. 15, 2015.
