FAYETTEVILLE —  Arkansas is back at Baum Stadium for a midweek series against New Mexico. But the chance of inclement weather Wednesday has turned the originally scheduled two-day series into a Tuesday doubleheader.

The Razorbacks (23-9, 8-4 in SEC) and Lobos (16-15, 8-4 in Mountain West) will play two nine-inning games today with first pitch for game one set for 3:05 p.m. The second game will begin roughly 30 minutes after the completion of game one.

Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn announced his starting pitching plan for the doubleheader. Senior Tyler Wright (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will be on the mound for the first game, while freshman Colin Poche (3-0, 0.53 ERA) starts the second game. The two have combined to allow one earned run in 26 1/3 innings this season.

It’s the first meeting between the schools since the 2011 Tempe (Arizona) Regional, when Arkansas eliminated New Mexico with a 3-0 win. The Razorbacks also grabbed a pair of one-run wins (4-3 in 11 innings, 6-5) in a midweek series during the 2010 season in Fayetteville. Arkansas leads the all-time series 6-1.

The nonconference series kicks off a five-game week at Baum Stadium for the Razorbacks, who claimed their third straight Southeastern Conference series by winning two of three at Alabama (20-13, 8-4 in SEC) last week. The success helped Arkansas move from No. 14 to No. 10 in this week’s Baseball America Poll, climbing back into the top 10 for the first time since its 0-4 trip to Arizona last month.

It also sets up a top 10 matchup later this week when Arkansas welcomes No. 3 LSU (30-2, 11-1) to Baum Stadium. The three-game series begins Friday at 6:35 p.m.

Arkansas announced Monday that 500 general admission tickets were available for Friday’s game for $8. Reserved tickets for the series opener are sold out.
