FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas pitchers Ryne Stanek and Colby Suggs were named preseason first-team All-Americans by Baseball America on Thursday.

It added to a decorated preseason for the juniors, who are part of an Arkansas staff that returns 10 pitchers from last season’s College World Series team. Suggs has been included on four All-America teams this offseason. Stanek has been named a preseason All-American three times.

Stanek will enter the 2013 season as Arkansas’ top starter after going 8-4 with a 2.82 earned run average in 17 starts last season. He’ll be joined in the starting rotation by junior Barrett Astin and senior Randall Fant during Arkansas’ season-opening series against Western Illinois.

Suggs will open the season as Arkansas’ closer after shining in his role out of the bullpen last season. He finished 7-1 with a 1.38 earned run average in 30 appearances.

Arkansas is scheduled to scrimmage three times this weekend in Baum Stadium (Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.). The scrimmages are open to the public.

The Razorbacks will open the 2013 season against Western Illinois on Feb. 15.
