LITTLE ROCK - A Garland County jury returned a verdict of not guilty Friday in the negligent homicide trial of Garland County Circuit Judge Wade Naramore.

Naramore was charged in the July 24 death of his 17-month-old son, Thomas. Prosecutors said Naramore forgot to drop Thomas off at daycare and left him in a hot car for several hours, causing his death.

The trial in Garland County Circuit Court began Friday. Scott Ellington, prosecuting attorney for the 2nd Judicial District, was appointed as a special prosecutor in the case after local judges recused.

Naramore could have been sentenced to up to one year in jail and fined up to $2,500 if he had been convicted.

The Supreme Court had ordered Naramore suspended with pay until all criminal and disciplinary proceedings against him were resolved.
